One afternoon while riding on some trails near home, we decided to leave the beaten path and make our own. Eventually we came across quite a few golf balls scattered over a large area at the bottom of a ravine. We found that we were next to a small 9 hole golf course that has a creek running the length of hole 6, with a small 50ft drop off the side. Not being an advid golfer, I simply made a potato gun and gave it a shot!

Over the next year we shot a few thousand balls! It was just something to do and it was a lot of fun! After shooting around 300 yards (many versions in by this time) I started looking at other cannon builds. I found two things right away. First, the cannons that were out there were big, bulky, and ugly! They shot around 300 to 400 yards total with ground roll. Second, anything that shot extremely long distances was on a trailer, and looked like a science experiment. I was looking to solve three problems, make it portable, make it look cool, and most important, have the longest shot.

After looking into the physics of air cannons, I started experimenting with very volume specific metrics. Now, remember by this time i was already shooting 300 yards, with my just build it and see what works versions. The first shot schocked me. It had actual recoil, enough that it caught me off guard (left a bruise on my shoulder like a rookie with a shotgun), and it went a long, long damn way. Well this is where the story continues. I plan on hosting some events this spring and summer. With my storied background in bowling and family entertainment, I can promise that these will at the very least be intersting.
